Vettaikkaran

'Vettaikkaarn', starrin
g Vijay in the lead, was launched on Feb 22 at AVM Film Studios. The title of the film has been borrowed from the MGR hit of the '70s and
will be the 'Ilaiya Thalapathi's 49th film.

The pooja, held at the pillayar Kovil in the studios, was attended by Vijay, his family, producer AVM Balasubramanian, director Babu Sivan and other important me
mbers of the crew.

Vijay has much at stake in the fortunes of the film, as his last two outings a
t the B.O. --'Kuruvi', and 'Villu'-- were not very well received. Anushka pairs up opposite him and Vijay Antony scores the music.

It would be more pertinent terming ‘Vettaikkaran’ as Vijay’s Acid Test. All his previous three films on the row, ‘Azhagiya Thamizh Magan’, ‘Kuruvi’ and ‘Villu’ hadn’t exceeded our expectations though it picked up good collections at box office.

Actor Vijay is so keen striking more splendidly with his clichéd pattern of commercial-entertainer. With M. Balasubramaniam and P. Gurunath Meiyappan producing it under the banner of AVM Productions, Anushka makes her comeback in Kollywood taking on the female lead. Saleem Ghosh haps to be donning the baddie role while Sri Hari, Sayaji Shinde and Sathyan would be depicted with prominent characterizations.

P. Babu Sivan once an associate of Director Dharani makes his debut directorial with this film. Gopinath cranks the camera and Kollywood’s ‘Rock-Gaana’ King Vijay Antony has tuned sleek-tunes that go more suitable for Vijay’s style. When’s its Shobi choreographing for the songs, Kanal Kannan is in charge of masterminding best stunts.

The first shooting schedule commenced on March 9 where a grand title song featuring Vijay and 100 junior artists were extensively filmed at Rajahmundry…
