Dhanush as Kutty

Dhanush is on a high. His last few films -- Yaradi Nee Mohini with Nayanthara (remake of Selvaraghavan's Telugu hit Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule), Polladhavan with Divya Spandana (an adaptation of Bicycle Thieves) and Padikathavan with Tamannah -- were commercial successes.
Now, he is back with another hot actress, Shriya Saran in the Tamil film Kutty, a remake of Allu Arjun's Arya. Kutty is directed by Mithran R Jawahar who earlier directed Dhanush in Yaradi Nee Mohini. Devi Sri Prasad, who composed the music for the original, is also the man behind Kutty's music.
Incidentally, there's another Kutty in Tamil -- an offbeat serious film by Janaki Viswanathan. Other than a few international awards, the film won child artist Shweta a national award, and also the director a Special Jury award. Anyway, Dhanuh's Kutty will be a total commercial film unlike Janaki's.










Thoranai


Thoranai stars Vishal and Shriya Saran in the lead roles. Prakash Raj also plays another prominent role in the film. The film is directed by debutant Iyappan, and produced by Vishal’s brother, Vikram Krishna, under GK Films.
This action-packed entertainer is expected to be released late 2009.The cast includes Prakash Raj, Sreeman, Pandiarajan, Livingston, Paravai Muniamma, Santhanam, and Mayilsamy,Shreya will share the screen space with Vishal for the first time. Iyappan has assisted Bhupathi Pandian while he directed Vishal in Malaikkottai.
About the project, Vishal says, ”We chose this name for the project because it describes the hero’s attitude in the film. The movie is being directed by Iyappan, who has worked with Malaikottai director Boopathi Pandian. The music is by Manisharma while Priyan will handle
the camera.”

Simbhu in Sigappu Rojakkal


News is abuzz in Kollywood that Simbu plans to remake Sigappu Rojakkal. This is one of director Bharati Raja's legendary films with Kamal Haasan and Sridevi, made over 25 years ago. 

The film had every ingredient to remain the talk of the town even years after it was released! The song 'Ninaivo oru paravai' is still sung and remains etched in people's memories. 

The story is about relationships and what harm it can cause for the average man! But can Simbu pull it off successfully without any issues? Simbu plans to meet Bharati Raja and discuss with him if he can go ahead after making changes to the original. The name of the actress has not yet been finalized, although there are several finalists!

Simbu in a different beat!


After having redefined the comedy genre with his highly acclaimed Imsai Arasan and the moderately successful Arai En, Simbudevan is back with what is rumored to be the cowboy movie of Tamil cinema. Titled Irumbukottai Murattu Singam (IMS), the movie has a colorful bunch of artistes ranging from the latest babe of Tamil cinema Lakshmi Rai to the yesteryear veteran Manorama.

IMS is scored by G V Prakashkumar and produced by AGS Entertainment, Kalpathi Agoram. Irumbukottai Murattu Singam A cowboy themed movie in Tamil cinema is a novel concept and the press releases announcing the movie’s shoot commencement have already sparked curiosity. Dressed in Cowboy hat; a hat with a wide brim to protect from sun, overhanging brush, and other inevitable cowboyish elements, the actors are photographed in a different light altogether from the usual movie stills. IMS has Lawrence in the lead with Padmapriya, Lakshmi Rai and Sandhya as the lead ladies. The other actors include Nasser, Manorama, Vaiyapuri, Ramesh Kanna, Mouli and Delhi Ganesh.

Kamal Hassan’s Thalaivan Irukkiran


Kamal Hassan’s Thalaivan Irukkiran, has undergone a name change and is now called Unnai Pol Oruvan!

The shoot of the bilingual in Tamil and Telugu, a remake of A Wednesday features Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in the lead. The shoot of the film is going on at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Chakri is directing the film.

Shruthi Haasan will be debuting as the music director in this film produced by Kamal’s Raj Kamal Films in association with UTV. 
A teaser trailer of Unnai Pol Oruvan is being shown in Tamil channels.

Moscowin Kaveri


Ace cinematographer Ravivarman takes a new avatar with ‘Moscowin Kaveri’.
Ravivarman, who had impressed everyone with his camera work in ‘Anniyan’, ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ among other films, is keen to surprise everyone with his directorial venture ‘Moscowin Kaveri’.

Ravivarman is thankful to Oscar V Ravichandran, who has produced the film.
The film's shooting took place in Karaikudi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Pondicherry. It is said that the sets that Thotta Tharani created in the Chennai Film City for this film will be highly praised.
Ravivarman has also written the story, screenplay, and dialogues of this movie, and he also has taken care of the camera work too.




Peranmai


Peranmai, the film being directed by Jananathan with Jayam Ravi in the lead has many novelties in its making. It was said that the director had used the latest technology while filming in the dense jungles. Then there is this Hollywood stunt man who is said to have performed some remarkable stunts in the film. Now there is some thing else which is sure to be talked about for its uniqueness. 
There is going to be an English song in the film whichis penned by a lyricist from London and sung by Sophia Robert and Saint Jones. The musical notes have been sent by Vidya Sagar through email and the song was created at a studio in London. Currently Jananathan is filming the sequence in Prasad studios. Kollywood is indeed on an innovative path

Ajith's Asal

Ajith next film Asal will have its pooja on Wednesday April 8. Asal Asal directed by Saran, and produced by Sivaji Productions. Asal pooja will take place at the late Sivaji Ganesan’s house on Boag Road in Chennai, as per the tradition of the production house. Director Saran has finalized the script which is said to be an action entertainer, with a new look for Ajith. The film which has music by Bhardwaj, has Sameera Reddy as the heroine.

Actor Surya who is enjoying the success of his film Vaaranam Aayiram have signed his next project with Director K.S Ravikumar even before his current on going project Ayan has hit the theatres.The new movie has been tentatively titled Adhavan, and it is said that Director K.S Ravikumar will begin work on this project only after after completing Sarath Kumar starrer Jaggubhai. Sources say that the the movie may start its shooting at end of January 2009.
